Myers, Brettholtz & Company PA has named the Bob Janes Triage Center/Low Demand Shelter, Families First: Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida Inc. and Child Care of Southwest Florida, Inc. and Southwest Florida Addiction Services/Lee Mental Health Merger as the three finalists in the inaugural Uniting Nonprofits In Teaming for Excellence Award. The first winner of the $25,000 award will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at the annual Myers, Brettholtz & Company’s full-day nonprofit seminar held at Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, located at 1380 Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. In addition, each of the runners up will receive $2,500 thanks to funding made available by a private individual who wished to reward the other finalists for their dedication to collaboration in the community.

Raich Ende Malter & Co. LLP took part in the recent holiday hustle. It participated in the United States Postal Service Letters to Santa Program. The firm raised over $6,000 in cash and donations. The firm collected wrapping paper, toys, unused baby clothes, and blankets for Letters to Santa. According to the USPS, they have received letters addressed to Santa Claus for over 100 years. Did you know that in 1912, Postmaster General Frank Hitchcock began allowing postal employees and citizens to respond to the letters. Another key fact James A. Foley Post Office in New York City operates the largest program, called “Operation Santa.” Volunteers answer as many as 500,000 letters each year. That's a lot of stamps. … The EisnerAmper Consulting Services team has partnered with Merlinos & Associates, and developed a course that will focus on Enterprise Risk Management implementation success factors, techniques and guidance, as well as the key qualitative and quantitative considerations. The American Institute of CPAs has named students from The University of Portland champions of the 2013 AICPA Accounting Competition and recipients of the $10,000 award, to be split among the team members. Students from Santa Clara University took second place, earning a $5,000 award. The third-place team from The University of Southern Indiana received $2,500.
