The Financial Accounting Foundation released an updated print edition of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Accounting Standards Codification, the single, authoritative source of U.S. GAAP for public and private companies, and not-for-profit organizations. The annual bound edition of the Codification is intended to be used as a reference tool in conjunction with the always-current online Codification available at https://asc.fasb.org. The new four-volume bound edition of the FASB Codification contains all of the content of the online Codification as of October 31, 2012. The annual print edition of the FASB Accounting Standards Codification can be ordered online at the FASB store at the cost of $215.00. … BlumShapiro and its employees collectively donated more than $56,000 during their participation of the United Way’s Workplace Campaign.  

FLORIDA

Calling all entry level accountants…the Pensacola-based recruiting automation services firm, CollegeFrog, is launching the spring 2013 National Meet the Firms Week. The virtual recruiting event will take place March 25 to March 29.  The first National Meet the Firms Week took place in October 2012 and connected 200 accounting firms and 2,500 students across the U.S.  This spring, it is expected that hundreds of additional accounting firms and companies nationwide will participate. The goal is to reach 10,000 students participating this spring… The University of West Florida, Pensacola, is ranked No. 5 in the U.S. for first-time pass rates by small accounting programs on the CPA exam, according to recent results released by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. UWF was competing against 266 institutions classified as small programs with 10 to 20 reported candidates. … Fuoco Group LLP, North Palm Beach, has launched the Fuoco Commercial Funding. MICHIGAN

The international accounting and consultancy network UHY LLP, Farmington Hills, conducted a study that shows that consumers in Brazil and India were hit with the highest levels of consumption and sales taxes worldwide. According to the report, the Brazilian and Indian governments take 28.7 percent and 38 percent respectively of the total price of the basket of goods and services through taxes.
