Crowe Horwath Revamps Leadership Team

The Top 100 Firm Crowe Horwath has a new leadership team. James Powers is now the new chief executive officer, Joseph Santucci Jr. stepped into the role of chief operating officer, and Derek Bang is the new chief strategy and innovation officer.

“Our vision calls for Crowe personnel to develop even deeper specialization in our targeted markets,” Powers said in a statement. “Joe and Derek will help lead us in that direction while we continue to focus on the firm’s core purpose of ‘Building Value with Values.’” Powers explained exactly what those values are in a video interview, which can be found on the firm’s video portal hosted on its website

[IMGCAP(2)] Prior to his new title of COO, Santucci was the managing principal of the firm’s Performance Consulting Services. Santucci will oversee the firm’s specialized industry groups, firm wide administrative groups and geographic office leaders. He also serves as president of Crowe Horwath University, the firm’s internal learning arm.

Santucci has a bachelor of science in management information systems from the Ohio State University and has been with Crowe since 1987.

Bang, who previously held the title of chief innovation officer, will work alongside of Powers to develop, communicate and fulfill Crowe Horwath’s strategic initiatives. He will retain responsibility for innovation and new solution development. [IMGCAP(3)]

Bang, who is a CPA, has been with the firm since 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a master of business administration degree from Indiana University.

In addition, Crowe Horwath promoted several partners and expanded their national roles: Mark Baer moved up to managing partner in audit services, Josh Cole is now a managing principal in performance consulting services, Kevin Hovorka is a managing partner in advisory services, John Kurkowski is the managing partner at private equity group services, Bob Lazard is a managing partner in the public sector services group, and Mark Strawmyer is the managing principal in the applied technology practice.
