CALIFORNIA

Radius has acquired San Francisco-based Montage Services, a tax and compliance advisory firm. Montage.

 

CONNECTICUT

Twenty-one BlumShapiro employees provided a full day of interactive classroom lessons about the fundamentals of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to more than 230 students in Grades 3-5 at Webster Hill Elementary School in West Hartford. This is the seventh consecutive years has used curricula developed by Junior Achievement to lead the “JA in a Day” program at Webster Hill.

DELAWARE

Belfint, Lyons & Shuman CPAs and William Penn High School have partnered to give students an opportunity to experience the public accounting industry through a half-day immersion program at BLS. Students from the Penn Accounting Team started with an office tour and a service offering overview, and then rotated in each department for shadowing sessions, followed by lunch with additional BLS team members where the students could ask questions and learn about each individual’s path to becoming a CPA. A few days later, BLS team members attended the year-end financial presentation the Penn Accounting Team gave to the leadership of Penn Bistro, where WPHS Culinary students prepare for college and careers in a new, state-of-the-art, restaurant-style, educational kitchen.

ILLINOIS

RSM US LLP, Chicago, released the results of a survey of 494 international business leaders that revealed that middle-market businesses expect to be significantly impacted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Action Plan. The survey showed that 72 percent of business leaders anticipate a 5 to 10 percent increase in effective tax rates as a result of BEPS, and 92 percent also expect increased compliance costs, demonstrating that, contrary to conventional wisdom, BEPS will impact middle market companies almost as much as large multinational corporations. Blue & Co. LLC, Carmel, was recently named to a number of “Best Places to Work” lists: It was named one of the 2016 Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce; one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky for the fifth consecutive year by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group; and No. 2 in the Large Company Category of the 2016 Best Employers in Ohio list by the Ohio SHRM State Council and Best Companies Group. This is the fifth time Blue has made the list.

KENTUCKY

Louis T. Roth & Co. and Riney Hancock CPAs PSC have received When Work Works Awards for 2016 from the Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management, in recognition of its flexible workplace practices that promote employee development and effectiveness.

 

NEW JERSEY

The second annual Money$peak competition, presented by the Mercadien Foundation and Rider University, with participating student teams from Bordentown, Hillsborough, Hopewell Valley, Lawrence, Steinert, and West Windsor Plainsboro North high schools, was held on Wednesday, June 1, with nearly 60 teams representing over 200 students vied this spring to make it to the finals. The winning Money$peak teams were awarded cash prizes and school grants for personal finance education. Sponsors included Princeton-based CPA firm The Mercadien Group, Rider University, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, TD Charitable Foundation, PSEG Foundation, Fulton Bank and Random Thought Studio.

 

NEW YORK

Twelve tax professionals from Focused Business Solutions LLC have joined Deloitte Tax LLP, including FBS founder and CEO Anthony Gulotta and FBS director Kirsten Gulotta. … KPMG LLP today announced a new charitable initiative, the KPMG Future Leaders Program, and named Condoleezza Rice as its ambassador to help facilitate the program. Eide Bailly LLP, Fargo, has received a 2016 NetSuite 5-Star Award, NetSuite’s highest level of recognition for partners and NetSuite solution providers. Eide Bailly was recognized for the second year.

TEXAS

To celebrate its merger with JW Anderson & Associates PC, Blue & Co. LLC held a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce on June 8, at 4920 S. Loop 289 in Lubbock. The two firms officially merged in January.
