ARIZONA

Thomas Furrier, a shareholder and a partner-in-charge at tax R&A CPAs, Tucson, has been appointed the firm’s first-ever CEO. He has been with R&A since 1984. In addition, the firm created five new positions: Tariq Khan will serve as CFO; Phillip Dalrymple as chief of staff; Rodolfo Paredes as chief of business development; and Charlie Charvoz as chief of information systems.

CALIFORNIA

Sandra Hague has joined White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP, Irvine, as talent acquisition and brand manager.

FLORIDA

Erik Christianson and Ambrosio Gonzalez have joined Alvarez & Marsal Taxand LLC as senior directors based in Miami in the Private Client Services Group.

KANSAS

K·Coe Isom named four new partners: Blake Allen, who leads the K·Coe Isom Wealth division from Wichita; Doug Claussen, in Goodland; and Tommy Irvine and Kyle Rusten, in Chico, Calif.

KENTUCKY

Lucas P. Atherton has joined Riney Hancock CPAs, Owensboro, as a staff accountant in the Client Accounting Services Division.

LOUISIANA

Tom Elliott has joined Postlethwaite & Netterville APAC as an associate audit director in the Lafayette area office. The firm also announced a number of promotions: In Baton Rouge, Megan Balhoff, Philip Plaisance and Lindsay Watts have been promoted to audit manager; Kristin Bourque, Madison Field and Jeremy Sanders to consulting manager; and Steve Bearry, Drew Blanchard, Paul Douglas, Ingrid Glodd, Ana Krivic, Don McLean, Dustin Mire and Ben Vance to associate director. In New Orleans, Ang Ferri, Jennifer Fuselier, Michael Morse, Matt Nalls and Tim O’Brien were promoted to audit manager; Lilly Fincher and Kelly Helffrich to tax manager; and Conrad Lin, Tommy Maginnis, Katherine Torres and Jennifer Zerangue to associate director.

 

MARYLAND

Daniel L. Weaver, vice president and director of not-for-profit services at Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell PC, Bethesda, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of The Children’s Inn at NIH.

MASSACHUSETTS

Giuseppe “Joe” Femia has been named a shareholder and vice president of G.T. Reilly & Co., Milton. He joined the firm as a staff accountant in 2000

MICHIGAN

Alex Yarber has joined the National Financial Institutions Group of Doeren Mayhew, Troy, as a commercial and retail lending senior manager.

MISSOURI

Chris Mattix has joined the State and Local Tax Department of MarksNelson LLC, Kansas City, as a senior staff accountant.

 

NORTH CAROLINA

Nick Stone has joined the Risk Advisory Services Group of Cherry Bekaert LLP as a director in the Raleigh office.

PENNSYLVANIA

Julius Green, a partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP, will receive the National Achievement in Public Accounting Award from the National Association of Black Accountants at its 2016 national convention in June. He is being honored for his 30-year career in public accounting, and his track record of professional success, including his current role as president of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs.

VIRGINIA

Halt, Buzas & Powell Ltd., Alexandria, announced four promotions: Franziska Jupiter and Juliana Hayfron-Benjamin have been promoted to senior accountant, and Rui Huang and JiYoung Stone to staff II accountant.
