CALIFORNIA

Darwin Pangilinan has been promoted to partner at OUM & Co., San Francisco. He joined the firm in 2010, and work in the assurance and advisory practice area as well as the technology and life sciences groups.

 

CONNECTICUT

Gary Purpura has joined the Stamford office of CohnReznick as a principal in the tax practice. Carolyn Neyer, Irene McDonnell and Zach Papanagnostou have also joined CohnReznick  from the same business tax specialty and advisory firm as Purpure, as a director, a tax manager and a tax senior associate, respectively. ... The Connecticut Society of CPAs announced its 2015 New and Young Professionals to Watch, three up-and-comers, aged 35 and younger, who have set themselves apart as emerging leaders in the accounting profession: Ross A. Riskin, assistant professor of accounting and finance at Albertus Magnus College, vice president of Riskin & Riskin PC and managing member of Riskin Advisory LLC; Katherine Donovan, a senior audit associate at Whittlesey & Hadley PC; and Tessa Jordan, a manager at Nicola, Yester & Co. PC.

 

GEORGIA

Sue Shin has joined Porter Keadle Moore, Atlanta, as a senior manager in the Tax Department, and Jay Lucas as a credit review manager on the risk advisory team.

 

INDIANA

Kruggel Lawton CPAs announced a number of new hires: Lauren Gehrke, Jordan Hesters, Jeff Jurgonski, Zach Lesh and Kyle Pletcher have joined the South Bend office as staff accountants, while Cody Newport has joined the Elkhart office as a senior staff accountant, and Paula Kercher and Arniel Sia have joined the Elkhart office as staff accountants.

 

MAINE

Jeffrey Wheeler has been elected director of audit at Baker Newman Noyes, Portland, to succeed Carl Chatto, whom has been named managing principal in the New Year upon the announcement of Eleanor Baker's retirement in June 2016.

 

MARYLAND

KatzAbosch, Timonium, announced a number of promotions and new hires: Michael Gentry has been elected a director of the firm; Ryan Sturm and Kristin Hucht have been promoted from principal to shareholder, while Tim Ward has joined the firm as a shareholder; and Kristin Bailey and Amy Heim have been promoted from manager to principal. In addition, firm co-founder Alvin Katz has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Maryland/Israel Development Center, while senior manager Henry Kass has been elected to the Board of Directors for Cool Kids Campaign, which aims to improve the quality of life for pediatric oncology patients and their families.

 

MASSACHUSETTS

Davide Villani has been promoted to managing director at AAFCPAs, Westborough.

 

NEW JERSEY

Three members of the New Jersey Society of CPAs have been appointed to the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy: Allison J. Dunk of Murphy, Miller & Baglieri LLP; Joan E. Paciga of KPMG; and Keith S. Balla of O'Connor Davies LLP. A pair of public board members were also appointed: Eileen L. Poiani and Maria P. Vallejo.

 

NEW YORK

The Bonadio Group has named three new partners: Robert Fellinger and John McCurdy in the Rochester office, and Robert Urban in the Albany office. ... Charles Perry has been named a partner in family office/high-net-worth services, and Paul Ribaudo has been named a partner in the Litigation, Valuation, & Dispute Resolution Group at Berdon LLP, New York City. ... Ronald Guzior has been named partner-in-charge of the Albany office of SaxBST. ... Andrew H. Kubrick has been named partner-in-charge of the Long Island office of Marks Paneth LLP, succeeding Michael P. Steven D. Lubart, member-in-charge of the Camp Hill office of Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Edward M. Messner Inspiring Business Award by the West Shore Chamber of Commerce. ... Travis C. Fox, who works with clients on estate tax and wealth transfer planning at HBK CPA & Consultants, Meadville, has earned the Certified Specialist in Estate Planning designation from the National Institute for Excellence in Professional Education LLC.
