Mike Allen, a principal at REDW LLC’s Phoenix office, was recently elected to the board of the Arizona Society of CPAs for the 2015-2017. Allen, CPA, MBA, is the head of the firm’s audit and consulting department.

Kathy Ryan of RoseRyan in Silicon Valley was recently named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the most influential women in San Francisco Bay Area business. Dustin Davis and Walter Gardisch were promoted to principals; while Lee Ruiz moved up to chief legal officer. … Dan Mennel has joined Grant Thornton LLP as a partner in the firm’s Strategic Federal Tax Services practice, based in San Jose, Calif. Mennel has more than 15 years of experience with a focus on matters related to R&D tax credits and incentives, including research and analysis, software development and testing, and defending numerous claims before the IRS. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mennel was a managing director with KPMG LLP, working with clients on a variety of complex issues related to R&D. Previously, he served for more than a decade in roles of increasing responsibility for Deloitte LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. … John Eckweiler, a partner in Marcum LLP’s Irvine office, was named partner-in-charge of Tax & Business Services for the California region. … Christian (Chris) Frederiksen, Bay Area CPA, business advisor, author and highly regarded international lecturer on “How to Build a Million Dollar Practice” received an honorary Ph.D. from his alma mater, Golden Gate University, at the commencement exercises in San Francisco on Friday, May 1. … Xavier Hurley has joined HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors as a tax accountant in the firm’s Tax Services department.

CONNECTICUT

The Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation reappointed Daryl E. Buck and R. Harold (Hal) Schroeder to the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Their new terms are effective July 1, 2015 and end on June 30, 2021. The Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation announced the appointment of Robert Scott, director of finance for the city of Brookfield, Wisconsin, as Chairman of the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council. Scott succeeds Martin Benison, former comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, who resigned as GASAC chairman and member on May 1, 2015 to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Scott has served on the GASAC as a representative of the Government Finance Officers Association since January 1, 2011. His term as chairman commences on June 1, 2015 and will extend through December 31, 2016.

DELAWARE

David Jennings was promoted to director at Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, Anne Mary Kluska and George Fournaris were promoted to principals.

GEORGIA

Kim Hartsock, a partner at Warren Averett, was accepted as a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2016. Hartsock was 1 of 85 selected for this honor from over 400 nominations. Hartsock is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and a member of the Firm’s Business Strategy Group, as well as an Audit Best Practice leader. Hartsock serves many privately held clients as well as not-for-profit organizations. She serves as the Board Chair of Georgia Southern University Young Alumni Board and is a member of Gwinnett Church. Hartsock was also recently named to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Top 40 Under 40.

INDIANA

The NASBA Center for the Public Trust presented William Bock of Indianapolis, with the Being a Difference Award. The presentation took place at the law firm office of Kroger, Gardis & Regas and the award was presented by Alfonzo Alexander, CPT President.

KANSAS

Julie Welch, CPA/PFS is the recipient of the AICPA 2015 Sidney Kess Award for Excellence in Continuing Education. Welch is a partner and shareholder at Meara Welch Browne, P.C. in Leawood, Kansas and the director of the firm’s tax department.

KOREA

Jongsoo Han, a board member of the Korea Accounting Standards Board and Vice-President of the Korea Accounting Association, and Robert Uhl, a US-based Partner and National Director of Accounting Standards and Communications at Deloitte & Touche LLP, have both been appointed for a three-year term, commencing 1 July 2015. John O’Grady, an Assurance Partner at EY in the Asia-Pacific region, and Sandra Peters, Head of Financial Reporting Policy at the CFA Institute in the US, have both been reappointed to serve a second three-year term on the Interpretations Committee, also commencing in July 2015.

LOUISIANA

Postlethwaite & Netterville’s audit manager Jennifer Zerangue, CPA, has completed the 2015 Leadership Jefferson Program. The mission of the Leadership Jefferson Program is to provide participants with an understanding of the social and economic changes within the Jefferson Parish community so that they may effectively support their community’s needs. Through an eight-month training process, participants take part in a comprehensive curriculum that includes leadership skills training, lectures, and discussions.

MARYLAND

John Coppola, a manager in the audit, accounting and consulting services group at Ellin & Tucker, was recently appointed to the board of directors of Archbishop Spalding High School.

MASSACHUSETTES

Marc Scribi has joined Rodman & Rodman, P.C as staff accountant in the firm’s Newton office. Scribi will be responsible for tax preparation and financial statement reviews. Scribi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School of Business and Economics. He is pursuing an MBA at Suffolk University Sawyer Business School. For two years previous to joining the Rodman team, Mr. Scribi was a staff accountant at a Waltham based accounting firm. … Cristina Morera has joined Baker Newman Noyes as an international tax manager in the firm's Boston office.

MICHIGAN

The AICPA has recognized Terry Murphy, CPA, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with its 2014 Public Service Award for Individuals. The annual award honors members of the AICPA who have made significant contributions to their communities. He received the award at the spring meeting of the Institute’s governing Council in Washington, D.C.

MINNESOTA

Michael Mumford has joined the Minneapolis office of Grant Thornton LLP as a director in the forensic, Investigative and Dispute Services practice. Mumford's practice will focus on assisting corporations and law firms resolve issues related to financial crimes, internal investigations and commercial disputes. … Jay Abdo of Bloomington, Minn., recently received the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Abdo, the senior partner at Abdo, Eick & Meyers, LLP is one of eight 2015 alumni award winners. … Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP promoted Greg Flannigan, CPA, and Jennifer McNeal, CPA, to partners.

MISSOURI

Reza Montasser joins Brown Smith Wallace as an IT Audit Manager in the Advisory Services practice. He has more than 17 years of experience in information technology and operational auditing, with expertise in PCI and PII compliance as well as COSO and the SOX 404 Framework. Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Montasser was an IT Audit Manager at Macy’s Inc. … HOK in St. Louis has promoted five members of its support staff. OHIO

Lisa Satonick and Susan Johnson have joined Corrigan Krause CPAs. Satonick joins the firm with 20 years of experience as a human resources professional. Prior to joining Corrigan Krause as the Human Resources Manager, Satonick was a Recruiter with Staffing Solutions Enterprises. Satonick also has experience with Barnes Wendling CPAs, the Employers Resource Council, the National Association of College Stores, and Lear Corporation. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and maintains a certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources through the Society for Human Resource Management. Johnson joins as a bookkeeper. Johnson has 25 years of experience in the accounting and bookkeeping field and has worked in the manufacturing, distribution and service industries. CliftonLarsonAllen has hired veteran Philadelphia accountant and lawyer Andrew Finkle as a principal in the firm’s Plymouth Meeting office. He brings more than 25 years of experience serving middle-market businesses on various day-to-day consultative, transactional, compliance and accounting-related tax matters. … Jennifer Cryder, CPA, joined the leadership team of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants as chief financial officer and vice president of operations. In her new position, Cryder will develop and execute the organization’s budget, report to the Board of Directors and direct the technology operations and initiatives. Cryder comes to the PICPA from EisnerAmper LLP in Philadelphia where she served as a senior manager. She was with the firm nearly 15 years, and focused her work in the audits of nonprofit organizations, including OMB Circular A133.

PrimeGlobal CEO Kevin Mead was honored as one of the association industry’s top chief executives during a prestigious ceremony in Switzerland.
