Weaver Merges in HLSK

Weaver is merging in Hereford, Lynch, Sellars & Kirkham, PC,  effective March 1, 2016, building Weaver’s governmental practice.

The deal will add a number of local government clients, school districts and nonprofit organizations in the Houston area to Weaver’s client base, as well as an expansion of the firm into the North Houston and Montgomery County market.

As part of the deal, HLSK principals Thomas W. Sellars and Deborah A. Kirkham Young will join Weaver as partners. Bert H. Lynch will continue working with the firm to provide tax consulting services to clients.

The 23 employees of HLSK, including the two principals, will remain in their current office in Conroe, Texas. Founded in 1950, Weaver currently has 500+ employees and offices in eight cities across the U.S., including Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. Weaver is ranked as the largest independent accounting firm in the Southwest by Accounting Today.

“HLSK is a great fit for Weaver that allows us to enrich our firm’s public sector industry reach and experience in the greater Houston area,” said Weaver managing partner and CEO John Mackel in a statement. “HLSK has a long history and solid reputation. The combination of our teams positions us to enhance the value and services we bring to the cities, counties, independent school districts and nonprofit entities in the greater Houston area, particularly the rapidly-growing North Houston area, as well as across the state of Texas.”

HLSK was established in Conroe, Texas in 1961 by Charles R. Hereford. The firm has provided accounting, audit, tax and advisory services primarily to government, commercial, nonprofit sectors and individual clients for the past 50 years.

“Our clients will benefit from the added depth of services and resources this merger provides,” said HLSK principal Tom Sellars. “We will be better positioned to serve growing organizations in this area and continue to build upon the close, enduring relationships we have with our current clients. We also look forward to the many opportunities joining Weaver brings to our employees, including ongoing career development.”
