Former Tallie CEO joins new client onboarding software company Liscio

Chris Farrell, founder and former CEO of expense reporting software company Tallie, has joined a new client onboarding software venture, Liscio, as chief operating officer. Liscio is the brainchild of Darren Root, CEO of Rootworks, a professional membership-based organization for accounting firms.

Farrell, a CPA who formerly worked for the ill-fated Arthur Andersen, founded Tallie in 2008, and built the company into a respected expense management resource for CPAs. His departure comes on the heels of a merger with Nexonia, a web and mobile business financial management solutions provider. Tallie has an interim CEO in place, but still has Farrell listed in the top spot on its website.

As for Farrell, he is excited about the next step: “I’m a builder at heart, so when I see an opportunity to help solve a major issue for the profession, like Liscio does, I want to be involved,” he told Accounting Today. “Add to this that Darren’s understanding of the accounting profession is unrivaled and the company’s vision of strengthening the bond between firms and their clients is compelling and timely, and it made my decision to join the Liscio team very easy.”

“My tactic in business has always been to surround myself with brilliant people,” Rootworks’ Root, who is also CEO of Liscio, added. “I’ve known Chris for several years and have witnessed first-hand his exceptional talent for developing and bringing world-class technology to market. So, when we started talking about Liscio, I knew I wanted him on the team.”

Liscio is set to launch on July 1, with a soft launch on June 1.
