Gettry Marcus merges in JM CPA

Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C., a Long Island firm based in Woodbury, N.Y., has added JM CPA LLP, a firm based in New York City, effective Dec. 1, 2017.

As part of the deal, Gettry Marcus has hired three partners from JM: Alan M. Willinger, Steven J. Eller, and Steve Bibas, along with 12 staff members. They will continue to provide services to their existing clients along with Gettry Marcus clients from the firm’s existing New York City office. Gettry Marcus has more than 100 employees and 20 partners.

“This merger allows us to leverage our combined expertise to provide a wider range of services as well as further increase our NYC presence,” said Gettry Marcus managing partner Steven L. Marcus in a statement. “We will work together as one firm to bring value to our clients, employees and community.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Gettry Marcus had annual revenues of $23 million and ranked 26th on Accounting Today’s Regional Leaders list of firms in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2017. JM had annual revenues of $4 million.

“We are excited about the positive benefits this merger will provide our clients and firm,” said JM’s former managing partner Alan Willinger, a new partner at Gettry Marcus. “Our staff will enjoy greater professional and personal development opportunities with a larger organization. The firm’s expansive service offerings will also allow us to add more value to our clients as their organizational needs continue to grow.”

As a result of the deal, Gettry Marcus will now serve clients internationally through membership in the MSI Global Alliance of independent accounting and law firms.
