HSMC Orizon Boosts Health Care Tech Practice

Accounting firm HSMC Orizon has boosted its health care technology services by acquiring Blue Wave IT, a local IT practice.

Matthew Hornung, who headed Blue Wave, has joined HSMC Orizon as a manager in the technology practice.

“Technology plays an enormous role in complying with the regulatory responsibilities that our health care clients are facing,” said HSMC Orizon principal and director of IT services Michael Bohning, in a statement. “Matt’s background in healthcare IT, including systems administration, information security and disaster recovery, is the perfect extension of the services we deliver to our healthcare clients.”

Hornung had previously served as IT director Lee’s Summit Physician Group, and client support at Dynamic Data Systems. He holds a number of technology certifications.

“Joining HSMC Orizon is a great opportunity for me to leverage my skills in advanced networking, and systems monitoring to serve their clients no matter the type of business,” said Hornung. “Regarding healthcare, the [electronic medical records] boom is impacting our clients now; providing adequate support, services and having the expertise is critical to helping them.”
