IRS e-Services Systems Down Until Jan. 6

In addition to the previously announced Centralized Authorization File outage from December 26 to January 2 at 6 a.m. ET (see "IRS Warns of Service Disruption Christmas Week"), the IRS e-Services' Transcript Delivery System, Disclosure Authorization and Electronic Account Resolution systems will be unavailable for three additional business days. They should return to operation January 6.

During this time, preparers will be unable to request transcripts, submit new Forms 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, and 8821, Tax Information Authorization, or use Electronic Account Resolution. The IRS encourages users to hold their transactions until the system is once again operational.

Preparers who fax Forms 2848 and 8821 during the outage period should not resubmit them later through e-Services. The forms will be processed manually.

The Practitioner Priority Service is available at (866) 860-4259 for additional questions.
