BDO Canada merges in HSHD

Details: BDO Canada LLP added Hazlitt Steeves Harris Dunn LLP, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

The addition of the Sarnia, Ontario-based accounting and advisory firm bolsters BDO's position in the area to support local businesses.

HSHD was founded in 1998 and is one of the biggest accounting and advisory firms in the Sarnia-Lambton area. The firm recently expanded its presence in the London, Ontario area by acquiring a practice in Lambeth.

HSHD's offices in Sarnia and Lambeth will work with BDO's existing offices in Sarnia, London and Strathroy, Ontario. BDO Canada’s partners and professional staff in Sarnia-Lambton will increase to more than 45 and the London area to over 100 as a result of the deal.

Illinois

Weiss & Company adds Leavitt and Siegal

Details: Weiss & Company LLP, an accounting firm in Glenview, Illinois, is expanding with the addition of two CPAs, Karen Leavitt and Sandra Siegal, and their staff.

They bring experience with high net worth clientele and family office services to Weiss.

The merger took effect Dec. 1, 2016, and is the second merger for Weiss & Company in the past 18 months. Weiss & Company, recipient of a 2016 Best Place to Work in Illinois award, currently has 50 employees.

Kentucky

Eiche, Smith & Co., PLLC joins Louis T. Roth & Co., PLLC

Details: Louis T. Roth & Co. has merged in Eiche, Smith & Company, PLLC, effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Eiche, Smith & Company, founded in 2008, provides accounting and tax planning services, along with business consulting, auditing engagements, and succession and estate planning.

Eiche Smith’s partners and staff have moved to Roth’s offices in Louisville, Kentucky. Established in the 1930s, Roth provides value-added accounting and advisory services to clients throughout the greater Louisville region. Its services include audit and accounting, business consulting and projections, tax planning, estate planning, technology consulting and business valuation services. It specializes in servicing the not-for-profit, medical, construction, manufacturing and real estate and development sectors.

Oklahoma

Ryan acquires Nickel & Company LLC’s clients

Details: Global tax services firm Ryan has acquired the key assets of Nickel & Company, a real estate and personal property tax firm based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The acquisition strengthens Ryan’s Commercial Property Tax practice in Oklahoma with a team of property tax professionals, along with a number of Fortune 1000 clients.

Dennis Nickel, owner of Nickel & Company, will work with Ryan on transitioning his firm’s clients.
