McGladrey Moves HQ to Chi-Town

McGladrey LLP is relocating its corporate office from Bloomington, Minn., to the city of Chicago. The firm, which ranks No. 5 on Accounting Today's Top 100 Firms list, is now the biggest CPA firm in Chicago.

The firm plans to add 300 to 500 employees to its new headquarters over the next five years. McGladrey initially started to serve middle-market Chicago businesses when it opened an office in the downtown area in 1985. The office currently has more than 1,000 employees who work with more than 3,500 businesses and individual clients in the area.

McGladrey is the sixth major business to move its headquarters to Chicago in the last seven months. Federal Savings Bank, GE Transportation, Sagence Partners, Sara Lee, and ThyssenKrupp have all decided recently to move their corporate headquarters to the Windy City.
