Moore Stephens North America Teams with Avalara

Sales tax compliance technology provider Avalara has signed a strategic partnership with Moore Stephens North America, a regional association of accounting firms that is part of an international network, in the company’s latest deal with a major accounting firm group.

MSNA has 48 of the leading accounting firms in North America, including Bermuda and the Caribbean, and is one of seven regions that make up Moore Stephens International Limited, one of the largest global networks of independent accounting firms, comprising more than 300 member firms operating out of more than 600 offices in over 100 countries.

The new strategic partnership will enable MSNA member firms to access Avalara’s Accountants Resource Center, which provides online information and resources on sales and use taxes and value-added taxes to meet the needs of clients of Moore Stephens’ member firms. The member firms will also be able to take advantage of Avalara partnering programs designed to help accounting firms expand and differentiate their state and local tax services.

“We always look to partner with those companies whose products can enhance the services our members provide their clients,” said MSNA executive director Steven Sacks in a statement. “Avalara’s sales tax compliance tools are a nice complement to our members’ considerable expertise in the SALT area.”

In September, Avalara announced a strategic alliance with PrimeGlobal North America, the North American region of the international accounting firm association PrimeGlobal, which has 53 accounting firms in North America. The company has also been building alliances with accounting software companies like Sage, Intuit and Open Systems.

“Moore Stephens is a major player in the international accounting association community, and we are very pleased to begin this exciting new partnership with them and their member firms,” said Ray Bigley, vice president of business development for Avalara’s Accounting and Advisory Services Program. “Our relationship with the North American region of Moore Stephens is part of our larger effort to create closer working relationships with accounting firms across the U.S. and around the world to enhance their stature as well-informed trusted advisors.”
