NABA adds four scholarships

The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) announced this week the addition of four scholarships to their National Scholarship Program, bringing the total number of scholarships offered by the organization to fourteen.

The newly unveiled scholarships are as follows:

  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Hidden Figures Scholarship
  • Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Scholarship
  • Claudette Griffin Memorial Scholarship
  • Ralph and Valerie Thomas Scholarship

NABA's scholarship program has donated over $11 million in funds since its inception, with over $250,000 in funds to accounting and finance students provided in the last two years alone.

NABA scholarship recipients must also meet the following criteria:

  1. Be African-American or of African descent.
  2. Be an active NABA student member.
  3. Be currently enrolled at a four-year United States college or university as a full-time (12 semester hours or equivalent), undergraduate freshman, sophomore, junior, or first-year senior accounting, finance, or business major; or be a full-time graduate student (9 semester hours or equivalent) enrolled or accepted into a master's-level business program.
  4. Meet the minimum grade point average requirement in one's major.

This year's NABA scholarships will be presented to students June 7 at the Celebration of Scholars Luncheon during the 2017 NABA National Convention & Expo in New Orleans, La.
