NJCPA names Sarah Krom as youngest ever president

The New Jersey Society of CPAs has selected Sarah Krom as president for its 2018-19 term, making her the youngest person, at 35, to hold the office, and the NJCPA’s third female president.

Krom is managing partner at SKC and Co., CPAs, LLC in Boonton Township, N.J. She joined the NJCPA in 2003 and is a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. She previously chaired the Young CPAs Council, now known as the Emerging Leaders Council. Krom succeeds Edward Guttenplan, managing partner at Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C.

Her election comes at a time when the accounting profession is striving to increase the pool of young people joining the profession and the percentage of women leaders in the CPA profession.

In 2011, the NJCPA named Krom as one of the “30 Most Influential CPAs Under 30.” In 2012 and 2016, the NJCPA cited her as a “Woman of Note.” She’s a member of the American Institute of CPAs. An honors graduate from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Kron has a B.S in accounting. She and her family reside in Jefferson.

“Her energy and drive are welcomed at the Society and by all members alike. We are excited to have her leadership, expertise and commitment on board.” said NJCPA CEO and executive director Ralph Albert Thomas in a statement.
