Filippelli’s appointment follows the merger of Cornerstone Accounting Group LLP, an accounting and assurance firm focused on the real estate industry, with Marcum. Filippelli will play a leadership role in Marcum’s national real estate group. She will also oversee all client services and administrative operations in the region. Filippelli earned her B.A. in Accounting from Montclair State University and is a CPA in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

WASHINGTON D.C.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that acting director George Canellos and former federal prosecutor Andrew Ceresney have been named Co-Directors of the Division of Enforcement. Canellos has been serving as acting director since January, and previously had been the division’s Deputy Director since June 2012. Ceresney served as a deputy chief appellate attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, where he was a member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force and the Major Crimes Unit.

WISCONSIN

Mary Jo Werner, a partner with Wipfli LLP, Milwaukee, has earned the Public Service Award from the Wisconsin Association of Homicide Investigators for her contributions to the murder trial of Eric Koula. Werner testified as an expert witness on Koula’s financial status, which was one of the keys to the prosecution establishing the defendant’s motive.
