CONNECTICUT

John Zinno, the office managing partner of BlumShapiro’s Shelton office, has been elected president of the board of directors of the Greater Waterbury YMCA. Zinno’s term as board president runs from July 2014-July 2016 and continues his more than 15-year commitment to the organization.

MARYLAND

Meghan Carter of HeimLantz has completed all the requirements to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Maryland University College. Carter previously earned an Associate in Arts degree in General Studies from Anne Arundel Community College. He is a member of the AICPA and the Missouri Society of CPAs. Janis received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Anderson works in the firm’s Tax and Real Estate Services Groups, providing tax consulting and compliance services to clients. He also specializes in low-income housing credits, new markets credits, renewable energy credits and historic rehabilitation credits. A graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Anderson is a member of the AICPA and the MSCPA.

WASHINGTON

Moss Adams LLP has tapped partner Marke Greene, a 14-year veteran of tax consulting, to take over as national partner in charge, replacing Keith Palmer, who has been with the firm since 1979 and will retire at the end of 2014.

WISCONSIN

Wisconsin School of Business Accounting Professor Emily Griffith and Ph.D. student Patrick Hurley received the Access to Audit Personnel Program Award. The Center for Audit Quality and the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association sponsor the program. Griffith and Hurley are one of only four research teams in the U.S. to receive this prestigious award. Griffith and Hurley’s proposal, Ego Depletion and Evidence Integration While Auditing Complex Estimates, focuses on the role of ego depletion on job performance in auditors. Ego depletion is a popular topic in social psychology, which argues that exercising self-control over a long period of time limits a person’s ability to do so in the near future. Griffith and Hurley’s research will examine ego depletion in auditors who work long hours during the busy season.
