Society of Louisiana CPAs Names 2014-15 Board of Directors: Dr. Thomas Phillips Jr. was named the 2014-15 President of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. Phillips is the Chairman of the Department of Accounting and holds the Thomas H. Daigre Endowed Chair in the E. J. Ourso College of Business at LSU in Baton Rouge. Formerly, Phillips was the Director of the School of Accountancy at Louisiana Tech University where he also served as the KPMG Endowed Professor. Brook Harvey was named the President Elect. Harvey is a Director in the Accounting and Assurance Services Group at the Baton Rouge CPA firm Postlethwaite & Netterville. Harvey received his bachelor's degree in business administration and holds a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ralph Bender was elected Treasurer. Richard Leach has been named director and senior advisor in CohnReznick LLP’s Government Services practice. She previously served as Director of Industries Marketing at KPMG. … The AICPA has awarded five students who are transitioning from community colleges to four-year universities with the inaugural AICPA Foundation Two Year Transfer Scholarship. These students have earned an associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance or economics with a declared intent to major in accounting at a four-year college or university and will receive $1,000 towards their tuition for the 2014-2015 school year. The awards are funded by the AICPA Foundation. UNITED KINGDOM

The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, responsible for the governance and oversight of the International Accounting Standards Board, appointed fifteen new members of the IFRS Advisory Council. The Advisory Council is the formal advisory body to the Trustees and the IASB. It advises the IFRS Foundation on its strategic direction, technical work plan and priorities.
