In his article, "The Guideline Transaction Method: Problems and Solutions", Barr highlights both the benefits and limitations of the Guideline Transaction Method. The GTM is an often-used method of developing an indication of value and the GTM can provide useful insight when valuing businesses. However, Barr explains that business valuation analysts also need to be aware of the method's problems and make informed decisions regarding the reliability of valuation conclusions developed under this method.
