Kerry Buchan has joined Windham Brannon as principal in the firm’s Atlanta office. Kurt Koons has joined PwC as a tax partner in the federal tax services practice, based in the greater Atlanta market. Before joining PwC, Koons spent 12 years at Ernst & Young's Atlanta office. He works primarily with large multinational public companies in various industries, including: manufacturing, consumer products, technology, and life sciences.

Steven Lewis has been named a 2014 Five Star Certified Public Accountant by Five Star Professional. Lewis is among an elite group of award winners who are featured in the November issue of Chicago magazine. Matthew Becker, Stephanie Giammarco and Christopher Orella have each been elected to three year terms to the board of directors at BDO USA LLP. Giammarco and Orella are new directors, while Becker, who serves as the chairperson of the board, was re-elected to a new term of service. Jeff Griffiths has moved up to principal at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in its Chicago office.

Michael Taylor has been promoted to director at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in the firm’s Boston office. James Brown has been honored with The American Institute of CPAs Sustained Contribution Award, which recognizes members who have contributed measurably to the AICPA and accounting profession with a long and exemplary record of volunteer service. ... Frank Ross is the recipient of The American Institute of CPAs Institute’s 2014 Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service. The Gold Medal is the highest award granted by the AICPA and is given to CPAs who have made major contributions to the CPA profession. Ross received the award at the fall meeting of the AICPA governing Council. James Curry, CPA, chair of the awards committee presented the award.

Denise Schwieger has joined PwC US as a new tax principal in the New York banking and capital markets practice. Prior to joining PwC, Schwieger was in KPMG’s Washington National Tax office and worked with financial services and investment fund clients. Christopher Noble and Yair Holtzman have been added to the partnership at Anchin, Block & Anchin LLP. Tamir Dardashtian, Esq. was promoted to principal at the firm. Amy Matsuo, principal in KPMG LLP's Regulatory Risk service network and National Leader of the firm's Financial Services Enterprise-wide Compliance and Consumer Regulatory group, has been named to Consulting magazine's 2014 list of Women Leaders in Consulting, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm announced today. Matsuo was recognized in the "Client Service" category and was one of only 12 women chosen from the more than 400 nominations that were submitted.
