PwC has promoted seven to partners throughout its Southern California offices. The partners include: Adam Bulpitt and Jeff Feiereisen as assurance partners, Joshua Goldman and Curt Jacobsen as advisory principals, Jerry Puzey and Miranda Tse as tax partner, and Amit Verma advisory principal.

COLORADO

Larry Stone, the owner of Stone CPA in Frisco, Colo., has won the Certified Tax Coach of the Year Award.

CONNECTICUT

Jennifer Hawkins and Michael VanDeventer were promoted to partners at Mahoney Sabol & Company LLP, Glastonbury.

 

FLORIDA

Lori Zeleznik has joined CBIZ as an administrative assistant in the firm’s tax department in the Tampa Bay office of CBIZ MHM LLC. Prior to joining CBIZ, Zeleznik supported the tax department for four busy seasons at McGladrey in South Florida. … Karen Mosteller, a partner with Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company PA, has been appointed the chair of the Health Care Statistics Committee with the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants. Mosteller is currently serving a three-year term on the board of directors and was awarded the Leonard Schwartz 2014 Go-Getter award for her contributions to the organization.

GEORGIA

PwC has made several promotions throughout its Atlanta office. Jeff Lemmons as State and Local Tax partner Chris Nicholaou as tax partner, Jason Natt assurance partner, Stephanie Morela assurance partner, and Sarah Anderson as federal tax services partner. … Terry Parker has been elected as the 2014-2015 chair of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

ILLINOIS

Marty Magida, a partner at Chunowitz, Teitelbaum & Mandel Ltd was elected to serve as vice president of the National Franchise Consultants and Accountants. NFCA is an alliance of nine public accounting firms specializing in franchise accounting and consulting for McDonald’s owner/operators.

MARYLAND

The Association for Accounting Marketing has annouced its board of directors for the term beginning July 1. The association will be led by marketing director Kerry Sullivan-Lechner of Anderson ZurMuehlen, who assumes a one-year term as president.

MASSACHUSETTS

Lori Amado has been promoted to Wealth Management Coordinator at Gray Equity Management LLC, Canton. In her new role Amado provides client support and compliance services for the firm, as well as carrying out marketing and client communications duties. Amado joined Gray Equity Management in 2008 when the firm’s parent company, Gray, Gray & Gray Certified Public Accountants, merged with Patterson & Gerry, P.C., where she had been working since 2003. Amado currently holds the MA/Life/Accident & Health Agent license and has passed the FINRA Series 6 and 63 exams. … Inez Mello has joined Moody, Famiglietti & Andronico LLP’ State and Local Tax Practice as a director. … Melissa Lord, supervisor at Shepherd & Goldstein LLP has recently been appointed to the board of directors for MassBay Foundation.

MISSOURI

NEVADA

Calli McWilliams has joined J.A. Solari & Partners as a senior accountant.

NEW JERSEY

Tom Martin is now the managing partner of Klatzkin & Company LLP. Martin succeeds Barry Snyder who was the managing partner for the last 18 years. … Nicole Hoopes has joined Bowman & Company LLP, Voorhees, as the firm’s marketing manager.

NEW YORK

General John Allen, USMC (retired) has joined the PwC’s advisory business as a senior strategic advisor to the public sector practice. … John Alfonso, a partner in the New York office of CohnReznick, has been appointed chairman of the Audit Committee for the American Cancer Society and will serve a one year term in this role.

PENNSYLVANIA

Patrick Forster was admitted as an advisory principal in PwC’s Pittsburgh health industries practice. Daniel Webster was admitted as an assurance partner at the firm and brings nearly 15 years of diverse public accounting and consulting experience.

TEXAS

Monica Moody, who is an audit in-charge at Condley and Company LLP, Abilene, has passed the Bank Secrecy Act exam. By passing the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists’ exam, she is now a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. Moody is responsible for overseeing and performing bank internal audits and is involved with various other audit projects. She specializes in internal controls and compliance for banking institutions. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance.

VIRGINIA

Jim Taylor has joined Alexandria, Va.,-based Grant Thornton LLP’s Global Public Sector practice as a managing director in its Financial Management and Assurance service line. Prior to Grant Thornton, Taylor was a senior advisor to the Internal Revenue Service commissioner for the Affordable Care Act, where he was responsible for integrating all of the Act’s activities within the IRS.

WASHINGTON

Clark Nuber has brought on several interns and made some new hires at the firm. The new hires include: Veronica Bains as a tax associate, Taylor Hoffard as an audit associate, Cheryl Olson as a not-for-profit consultant, Emma Tsuber as an audit associate Mark Wilson, audit associates.
