Peter Iannone has been elected president of the California Society of CPAs Education Foundation for 2014-15 at the annual meeting of the CalCPA Council. … Derrick DeBruyne of Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman, Glendora, has been elected president of the Inland Empire Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants for 2014 – 15. He succeeds Alex Lemos. … CalCPA recognizes Stephen Tierney for helping homeless achieve success. Tierney, a partner at Nienow & Tierney, has received the 2014 Public Service Award from the California Society of CPAs. In addition, he is a co-founder and current president of Up and Running Again, a nonprofit that helps people overcome poverty. The organization trains homeless individuals to run a half marathon. The runners can then apply the goal-setting skills developed through the training process to other aspects of their lives.

CONNECTICUT

The Financial Accounting Foundation appointed Washington State investment official Gary Bruebaker to the FAF Board of Trustees. Bruebaker is currently the chief investment officer for the Washington State Investment Board in Olympia, Washington.

FLORIDA

Sheri Fiske Schultz, a director of Litigation Support and Business Valuation Services at Fiske & Company, recently received the FICPA’s “Women to Watch” Experienced Leader Award. This award, which is given in conjunction with the American Institute of CPAs, recognizes women who are shaping the FICPA and the accounting profession. … Kelly Talamo, a marketing director at Myers, Brettholtz & Company PA, has been elected as treasurer of the board of directors for the American Business Women’s Association. … Jeffrey Barbacci will serve as the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants 2014-2015 chair of the board.

GEORGIA

Marietta-based Moore Colson announced the winners of its Peak Award for the first trimester 2014. The award recipients includes: Andrew Moore, a senior tax associate who joined the firm in 2013; Caroline Geiger, a business assurance associate who joined the firm in 2012; and Heather Crider, an administrative professional who is responsible for all firm client billing, accounts receivable, coordinating partner/CPE meetings and assisting other team members with various daily tasks. … PrimeGlobal has named new officers and members to its North American Board of Directors, in addition to bidding farewell to three long-serving and highly valued Board members. Melissa Gragg, a valuation manager at Stone Carlie’s Valuation and Litigation Support Services Group, was selected as an honoree for the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts - Consultants’ Training Institute inaugural 40 Under Forty Award. This award honors business valuation professionals under the age of 40 who have made extraordinary advances in the field. … RubinBrown has formed two separate industry groups, Healthcare Services Group and Law Firms Services Group. Thomas Zetlmeisl was named partner-in-charge of the Healthcare Services Group and Matt Finke was named partner-in-charge of the Law Firms Services Group.

Gerard Frech has joined CohnReznick as a director in the firm's advisory group. Frech is responsible for managing the integrity monitoring of large-scale construction projects and other major risk-prone undertakings for fraud, waste, and abuse, and providing integrity monitoring and compliance services to government agencies, private enterprise and not-for-profit organizations. … The Rockland chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants has elected Hunter Group CPA LLC supervisor Michael Milisits as president.

NEW MEXICO

Dean Willingham of REDW LLC was named chair of the New Mexico Society of CPAs for 2014-2015 term. He previously served as vice chair during the 2013-2014 period.

NEW YORK

Burns is a principal in the Accounting and Auditing Department at Lumsden & McCormick LLP in Buffalo, N.Y. … Catherine Engelbert has been named chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte & Touche LLP, a subsidiary of Deloitte LLP, to lead its audit practice. Engelbert succeeds Gregory Weaver, who will retire in the fall after a 41-year career with Deloitte.

OHIO

David Petrill, a director at Brady Ware & Company, has been appointed the leader of two Specialty Interest Groups of the Leading Edge Alliance. He will head both the Tax Leaders SIG and the Tax Specialty SIG for the next two years. … Paul Weisinger, a partner at Walthall CPAs, was named an honoree at the inaugural National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and Consultants’ Training Institutes’ 40 Under Forty awards.

TEXAS

Kimberly McKay, a partner at BKD LLP, has been named the new managing partner of the firm’s Houston office. McKay will transition during the next year to take over for managing partner Dave Hayob, who is preparing for retirement in May 2015 after more than 35 years with the firm.

WASHINGTON

Rachele Bouchand, director of financial planning in the firm’s tax services group, was recently selected to be a member (and sole recipient from Washington State) of the inaugural 2014 class of 40 Under 40 by InvestmentNews.
