Brett Beightol has been named partner-in-charge of Grant Thornton LLP’s San Diego office effective August 1. Beightol will succeed Don Williams, who plans to retire this summer after 35 years in public accounting, seven years of which he served as partner-in-charge of the San Diego office. … PwC US has admitted 23 into partnership throughout its San Francisco and San Jose offices. CONNECTICUT

Dan Dipillo will be admitted as an assurance partner at PwC’s Hartford office. He will focus on the industrial products and aerospace and defense sectors. Dipillo is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is licensed in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia. Josh Goldfarb will be admitted as an advisory partner at the firm, and will specialize in finance, technology and operations, focused on the financial service sector. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration. Goldfarb is a CPA, licensed in Connecticut.

FLORIDA

Jamie Byington, a partner at Cherry Bekaert LLP, is now a member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Governors. … Tami Cindrich and Victoria Loyola, CPAs at Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company, have met the requirement and passed the examination to become Certified Healthcare Business Consultants by the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants. Cindrich and Loyola work closely with physicians and administrators to provide management and operational solutions to assist practices in becoming more efficient and profitable. … Christine Sheehan, a senior tax accountant at Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA, has been elected to the Board of the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida. Juneen Belknap was admitted as an advisory principal in PwC’s insurance practice in Orlando. Belknap has experience with clients in property and casualty personal and commercial insurance as well as life, annuity and retirement services. She has supported initiatives across the customer experience, product development, marketing, sales, service, operations, and IT functions. Belknap holds a B.A. in liberal arts from Amherst College and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a focus in marketing and operations management. Manuel Iraola was admitted as an advisory partner in the deals practice based in Miami. Iraola brings over 17 years of experience providing M&A advisory services to corporate and private equity clients in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. As the leader of the U.S. firm's Latin America deals practice, he has led cross-functional teams on over 150 deals ranging in size from $2 million to more than $10 billion in the U.S. and numerous Latin American markets across a variety of industries. Iraola holds a B.A. in biology and economics from Brown University and is a CPA licensed in Florida. Tracy Junger was admitted as an assurance partner based in Orlando. Junger has over 18 years of experience working primarily with large, multi-national SEC registrants in the retail and consumer products and financial services industries. Her experience includes a 5-year tour in PwC's Global Capital Markets Group in London focusing on projects including equity and debt offerings, carve-outs, internal controls effectiveness projects and IFRS conversion projects. Junger holds a B.B.A in accounting from Stetson University and is a CPA licensed in Florida. Catherine Stahlmann was admitted as an advisory principal in the banking and capital markets practice based in Miami. Stahlmann co-leads the firm's U.S. anti-money laundering practice and brings more than 22 years of experience assisting global banks develop comprehensive AML programs that include target operation models, governance, client due diligence/ customer risk scoring programs, risk assessments (entity, product, geography), account monitoring systems, and reporting infrastructure. She has also assisted banks in addressing regulatory enforcement actions including Cease and Desists, Deferred Prosecution Agreements, monitorships, and other requirements mandated by regulators. Stahlmann holds a bachelor of commerce degree in management science from the University of Ottawa and is a member of the Association of Certified Anti-money Laundering Specialists, the American Bankers Association, and the Florida International Bankers Association.

Richard Morris, a senior vice president and director of tax services at CBM, Bethesda, presented with Enterprise Worldwide’s Brand Ambassador Award at their Annual Symposium. The firm’s chairman, Vincent Crescenzi, was presented with a “Lifetime Achievement” award.

MISSOURI

NEW JERSEY

Edward Guttenplan, a managing shareholder at Wilkin & Guttenplan PC, has been elected Secretary of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants for a one year term which stared on June 1, 2014. Guttenplan is a member of the AICPA and is active in many community organizations and boards. Guttenplan earned his B.S. and M.B.A. from Boston University.

NEW YORK

Thomas Groskopf has been named the new technical director for the AICPA Center for Plain English Accounting. Groskoph succeeds the late Dr. Tom Ratcliffe, founder of Plain-English Accounting LLC, an advisory service firm that was acquired by the AICPA last fall and expanded into the CPEA.

 

TEXAS
