FloQast adds software features, appoints head of business and corporate development

FloQast has added new features to its financial close management software. First, procedures and reconciliations can now be tagged with “high risk,” “non-close,” or “journal entry” tags. Administrators can designate these. The high risk tag is for complex tasks, or tasks that can sway overall financials a lot; the non-close tag is for tasks not on the critical path to completing the monthly close; and the journal entry tag is for checklist items and review notes. The company expects to add other tags in the future, based on user feedback and data on tag usage. Second, the new Work-Through Calendar allows administrators and managers to override certain holidays and weekends and have them function as working days in the application. For example, when a team has a quarter close on June 30 and the team is known to work seven days in a row in order to close their financials. The admin can designate the first Saturday and Sunday of July and the 4th of July as working days.

Separately, FloQast has created a new role, senior vice president of business and corporate development. Ken Sims has been named to the position. He will be responsible for forging strategic partnerships and creating distribution channels that help accelerate the company’s growth. Most recently, Sims served as CEO at Reach150, a SaaS provider of referral management marketing software for the real estate and lending markets.

The companies have partnered since February 2016, when Ellucian branded Chrome River’s software for its users. The award was presented at a special event during the Educause Annual Conference, held in Philadelphia from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3.

“Chrome River and Ellucian have developed a strong partnership on both the sales and product integration fronts, and now share dozens of customers, including some of the world’s most prestigious higher education institutions,” said Ted Stavropoulos, director of partner channel development at Chrome River. “We view Ellucian as one of our closest partner relationships and therefore we are honored to have received this award. Chrome River has a long tradition of developing innovative solutions that make end-users’ and administrators’ lives easier, so we are thrilled that this has been recognized.”
