RSM expands to Canada

RSM International has launched RSM Canada, with 37 partners and nearly 300 professionals in Toronto, with plans to extend its reach across the country.

Harry Blum, whose firm until now has been called Collins Barrow Toronto, will serve as managing partner of RSM Canada. The firm includes both RSM Canada LLP, the Canadian member of the RSM International Network providing audit and tax services, and RSM Canada Consulting LP, a newly formed partnership of RSM Canada and RSM US LLP. RSM Canada Consulting LP will provide services such as management consulting, IT infrastructure and business applications, and security, privacy and risk to clients in Canada.

“We are excited to welcome RSM Canada to our network,” said Jean Stephens, chief executive officer, RSM International. “This firm, together with our expansion plans, strengthens our ability to support our substantial existing North American client base, and enables us to realize exciting new opportunities in this important economy for clients across the globe.”

RSM plans to expand its network beyond Toronto to other markets in Canada, particularly major metropolitan areas. Collins Barrow has offices across Canada. “We look forward to building RSM Canada,” Blum said in a statement. “I believe we have a very strong value proposition. Canada is a country full of middle market businesses, and RSM is the global leader in serving the middle market. It’s a great fit.”

RSM International has more than 41,400 professionals in more than 120 countries around the world focused on middle-market businesses. Its firm in the U.S. is RSM US LLP. RSM US was formerly known as McGladrey until it was renamed RSM in 2015 to reflect its membership in the RSM International network (see McGladrey to rebrand as RSM).

“We are pleased to take this important step with RSM Canada,” said RSM US managing partner and CEO Joe Adams in a statement. “The consulting services currently offered by RSM US LLP will be a strong complement to the services offered by RSM Canada. Together we will be a first-choice advisor delivering the power of being understood to middle market leaders. We’re excited about the opportunities this creates for the clients, partners and staff of both firms.”
