Thomson Reuters Offers Tax Fundamentals Certificate

Thomson Reuters has introduced a Tax Fundamentals Certificate Program for tax professionals and those who help them.

The Checkpoint Learning Tax Fundamentals Certificate Program aims to provide tax practitioners with basic knowledge about a broad range of tax topics and help them develop overall tax competency.

The certificate program provides basic knowledge and tools to help practitioners expand their practices to tax planning, compliance with tax return preparation, and reporting requirements for individual, partnership, C corporation, and S corporation taxation.

“Recent years have seen last-minute tax legislation focused on new and extended benefits,” said Ken Koskay, senior vice president of learning solutions with the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, in a statement. “This certificate program provides the instruction necessary for new tax professionals and those that assist in the tax preparation process to become knowledgeable in the dynamic field of tax planning and return preparation.”

Individuals who are new to the profession or are returning to the profession after an extended break, along with the organizations that employ them, can learn the basics about preparing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120 and 1120-S. The program also provides explanations and tips for completing these and other related tax forms and schedules.

Candidates who successfully complete the course work and comprehensive final exam will earn a Checkpoint Learning Tax Fundamentals Competency Certificate along with approximately 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education credit. The certificate can be marketed to potential employers and to clients, and it can be renewed annually by completing eight hours of specific CPE credits.
