Thomson Reuters Updates Tax-Planning Guide for Upper-Income Taxpayers

Thomson Reuters has released the fourth edition of its treatise, "Tax Planning for Highly Compensated Individuals," by Robert E. Madden on the Thomson Reuters Checkpoint service.

The new edition of this WG&L treatise analyzes the latest regulations, case studies and financial planning strategies to help practitioners provide clients with guidance to reduce the overall tax burden and preserve the accumulated wealth and estate of executives and other highly compensated individuals.

“The combination of the 2012 tax law’s impact on the income and estate tax, the massive planning opportunities for same-sex couples since the Supreme Court’s decision in Windsor, many decisions relating to conservation easements, and the increased emphasis on income tax planning for estates mandated a new and totally revised edition,” said Madden, an estate and executive compensation planning attorney with Blank Rome LLP in New York, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Madden is also the co-author of a bi-monthly current developments column for Estate Planning magazine, and has been named one of the top Washington D.C., estate and probate lawyers by Washingtonian magazine.

The new edition offers strategies, tools and techniques for income tax and estate planning. It also provides analysis on a variety of investment options including stock options, deferred compensation, fringe benefit packages, alternative minimum tax, pensions, 401(k) and IRA plans, charitable gifts, lifetime gifts, insurance trusts, irrevocable lifetime trusts and more.
