UHY merges in Berman Goldman & Ribakow

UHY Advisors and UHY LLP, a Top 100 Firm based in Chicago, have expanded their presence in the Mid-Atlantic region by merging in Berman Goldman & Ribakow, or bgr CPAs, a firm based in Columbia, Maryland, effective Dec. 3, 2018.

The merger doubles UHY’s size in the Maryland area. As part of the deal, bgr managing partner Marc Rubin and partner Steve Wolf and approximately 25 of their staff members will be joining UHY’s existing Columbia office. “UHY’s commitment to personalized, high quality audit, tax and specialized consulting services strongly mirror that of bgr,” Rubin said in a statement. “We are eager to be able to offer our clients a broader array of resources, service offerings, and solutions.”

UHY has done a number of M&A deals this year along the East Coast. Last month, UHY acquired Flynn, Walker, Diggin CPA, a firm based in Saratoga Springs, New York. In May, it merged with Del Conte, Hyde, Annello & Schuch in Farmington, Connecticut, and in January, UHY expanded in Raleigh, North Carolina, with the acquisition of Bright Point Consulting.

“We are excited to welcome our newest colleagues from bgr CPAs to the UHY family as we continue to expand in the Mid-Atlantic region,” said UHY Advisors chairman and CEO Anthony P. Frabrotta in a statement. “The addition is part of UHY’s growth strategy to add quality firms and partners in the region, expand our footprint, provide added services and gain critical mass. The bgr CPAs team brings unique local service capabilities that will enhance and help us grow our platform for existing UHY services in the Mid-Atlantic region and across the UHY office network.”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. UHY Advisors ranked 32nd on Accounting Today’s 2018 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $132.5 million in annual revenue.

“The services and industries that bgr CPAs serve complement UHY’s expertise in accounting, tax, and business consulting,” stated UHY Advisors Mid-Atlantic regional leader Harold L. Mohn, Jr. “Bgr CPAs has deep roots in the Mid-Atlantic region, dating back to 1939. Their business philosophy and expertise closely align with UHY. We are thrilled about strengthening and growing our services with such a fine firm and their outstanding professionals.”
