WebFilings Renamed Workiva

WebFilings, a cloud-based provider of business reporting software, has been renamed as Workiva.

According to the company, Workiva (pronounced work-eeva) already has more than 2,100 corporate customers, including over 60 percent of the Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 using its online software for SEC reporting. One of the biggest companies using the system is Wal-Mart.

Workiva’s Wdesk software supports XBRL, or Extensible Business Reporting Language, the interactive data technology that the SEC now requires public companies to use for their financial reports. Corporate teams can also use Wdesk to collaborate on a wide range of compliance, risk, management and sustainability reports.

“To keep pace with our customers’ needs and meet the growing demand for our solutions beyond SEC filings, it's time to change our name," said Workiva CEO Matt Rizai in a statement. “But changing our company name doesn’t change who we are. We’re the same people delivering the same world-class customer service and vision for how Wdesk can streamline work throughout the enterprise.”

Recent Wdesk enhancements include improved workflow automation, data collection, search functions and offline tablet support.

Wdesk will continue to be the name of the company's main software platform. Workiva also plans to retain the name WebFilings specifically for its SEC reporting system. The company also recently completed a significant expansion of its headquarters in Ames, Iowa.
