Xero Integrates with Avalara, Optimizes for Apple

Xero kicked off Xerocon, the cloud accounting software provider’s North American user conference, by announcing new partnerships, including relationships with Apple and Avalara.

Xero will be working closely with Apple to optimize its mobile solutions on iOS devices so iPhone and iPad customers will experience the best Xero user experience and enhancements first on those Apple devices. Xero will also use its partner integrations to automate routine business processes and gain better insights into customers’ businesses on Apple devices.

More than 70 percent of all mobile consumption of Xero Touch is accessed through the iOS platform, according to Xero.

“We have seen tremendous demand for iOS solutions from customers around the globe as they look to transform the way they manage their businesses in today’s mobile world,” stated Xero CEO Rod Drury. “iOS is key to our customers’ success and we’re focused on creating a beautiful, designled experience that not only delights users but, helps them run their businesses effortlessly and flawlessly.”

Xero’s partnership with Avalara will enable customers to quickly access and calculate the most current sales tax rate information through an integration with Avalara’s regularly updated tax content.

Avalara will also integrate its TrustFile tax return offering with Xero so users can prepare sales tax returns in as little as five minutes.

“Xero’s 475,000 worldwide customers are priority number one and we’re always looking for new ways to strengthen the product and services we provide for them,” stated James Maiocco, general manager of business and corporate development at Xero. “Our partnership with Avalara will give our customers in the United States a way to easily manage and remain uptodate with constantly evolving sales tax rates, which is one less thing to worry about while running their businesses.”

The integration will be demonstrated during Xerocon in Denver June 2-4.

“Not only will Xero customers get sales tax rates based on zip codes in the U.S., our sales tax engine also pinpoints precise tax jurisdictions based on a street address or latitude, longitude GPS coordinates,” stated Marshal Kushniruk, EVP of global business development at Avalara. “Additionally, small businesses and their accountants can spend hours each month preparing forms, filing returns, and remitting sales tax in every state they operate. By partnering with Xero, Avalara is providing the fastest, easiest way for Xero users to automate this process. In fact, most small businesses using Avalara and Xero will be able to file in about five minutes.”
