CBM donates more than $1000 in first School Supplies Drive

Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C. (CBM), a Bethesda, Md.-based full-service CPA and business advisory-firm serving the D.C. metro area, has donated more than $1000 to the Housing Opportunity Community Partners (HOCP) in CBM's first annual School Supplies Drive.

The donation came in the form of thirty backpacks (10 each for elementary, middle, and high school), filled with a year's worth of school supplies, using the school supplies list provided by HOCP.

“CBM has been supporting worthy organizations like the HOCP since 1921,” said Amy L. Stark, marketing manager at CBM. “We are thrilled to be able to help the young people in need in Montgomery County start off the school year with all of the supplies they need.”

HOCP, a non-profit partner of the Housing Opportunity Commission of Montgomery County, strives to help low-income families living in Montgomery County’s subsidized housing, to improve their quality of life, equip them for higher self-sufficiency, and to provide the resources needed to break out of the cycle of poverty.

“The book bags and school supplies were excellent,” said Jonathan Cartagena, youth resident counselor at the Housing Opportunities Commission and lead on this year’s School Supplies Drive. “With the filled book bags and extra supplies CBM donated, we were able to serve a group of 45 kids."
