Gumbiner Savett chooses charities for monthly Jeans Day

Santa Monica, Calif.-based full-service accounting, taxation and consulting firm Gumbiner Savett has announced the 2014 charitable organization recipients for its monthly “Jeans Day” fundraising activity.

Every month, employees go casual in exchange for donating funds to the firm’s chosen charity, of which several are local and selected by staff. Firm management recently announced that they will be matching these donations.

“We are really proud of our people and the support that has been created for our Jean’s Day fundraisers,” stated Gumbiner Savett managing director Michael Savoy. “We felt it was important to start a matching program to let our staff know that we were supportive of their charitable efforts.”

Gumbiner Savett began the activity three years ago to raise money following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. In the past year, the firm has collected approximately $300 per monthly charity, not including nonmonetary donations of books, clothes, toys, school supplies, food and paracords, along with about 120 hours of volunteer time.

The charities the firm is supporting in 2014 include: Back on My Feet Los Angeles, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Cinderella’s Closet/LA’s Prom Closet, World Vision, MEND, Urban Possibilities, Angel Flight West, School on Wheels, Susan G. Komen, Westside Food Bank, Operation Gratitude and Spark of Love Toy Drive.
