N.J. accountant, National Guard keep area safe after Sandy

Staff accountant Brett Robertson, of New Jersey-based firm Smolin Lupin, was called to duty after Hurricane Sandy in his capacity as a captain of the U.S. Army Reserve National Guard.

Robertson, Captain of Company A, 2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry, surveyed the storm damage in Manasquan, N.J., with his crew.

He reported that for the week following the storm, the town was still without power and that the National Guard was able to prevent looting incidents.

“The community was just amazing, supporting each other, bringing around free food, water, and shelter,” Robertson stated. “The police and public really appreciate us. Now that we are here it allows the public to focus on their residences.”
