WeiserMazars partner elected to Long Island literacy board

James N. Kinney, partner at audit, accounting and advisory firm WeiserMazars, has been elected to Literacy Nassau’s board of directors to support the service in its mission to help functionally literate adults and their families reach personal success.

Since 1968, Freeport, N.Y.-based Literacy Nassau has provided more than 30,000 adults in the county literacy instruction, serving about 400 native and non-English speaking adults each year.

Kinney will begin serving his three-year term Sept. 1, 2012.

“I am honored to have been elected to the Board of this important organization,” Kinney said in a statement. “The work that Literacy Nassau does makes a difference at both the individual and community level and I am proud to be able to help them in their efforts. I am looking forward to working with Karen Micciche, executive director, and Bob Genalo, president of the board, in their tireless efforts on behalf of Literacy Nassau.”
