Andrew Garvey

Andrew joined Cain Brothers in 2008 and heads Cain Brother’s Capital Markets Group. He also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Andrew has worked in the finance industry for over 29 years, most recently as head of the Tax-Exempt Securities Division at Morgan Stanley where he was responsible for Public Finance, Short Term and Long Term Syndicate, Sales, Trading, Proprietary Trading, Derivatives, and Financial Products. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Andrew helped build the Financial Products Group at Lehman Brothers and began his career as an investment banker at PaineWebber.Andrew has had a diverse career in municipal, public sector, higher education, not-for-profit, and health care finance starting initially as investment banker for clients such as the City of Chicago, State of California, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. As a financial products specialist , Andrew has worked with a wide range of hospitals and hospital systems, universities and other Not for Profits to obtain lowest cost financing by creating innovative bond and financial product structures that meet client risk and return profiles. As a business leader and manager, Andrew has been responsible for founding and growing numerous businesses including national investment banking practices in the not-for-profit health care, higher education, and museum and foundation sectors; the student loan industry and housing/real estate sectors; a tax-exempt high yield syndicate, sales and trading operation; a regional dealer financial product desk; a global structured note origination and trading operation; and a bank liquidity and line of credit facility, among others. Andrew is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is a past member of the Municipal Division Executive and the Financial Product Committees of SIFMA (formerly the BMA). He is a graduate of Colgate University and earned an MBA from Harvard University.
