Ben Seessel represents insurers and other financial services companies in class action and complex litigation matters in federal and state courts across the country and counsels them on regulatory issues.� He has litigated many cases involving insurance products, including defending against allegations of statutory and regulatory infractions, violations of consumer protections laws, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and unjust enrichment, among others.� Mr. Seessel also litigates cases arising under federal and state securities laws and has represented broker-dealers and associated persons in FINRA arbitrations.� In addition, he has� appeared on behalf of leading industry groups as amicus counsel in several appeals involving ERISA.�Mr. Seessel was recently seconded to a major U.S. life insurer where he advised on a wide range of regulatory issues, reporting to the chief counsel for insurance products.� He counsels insurance industry clients on the use of big data and analytics, and has spoken and written frequently on the topic.�Mr. Seessel is an editor of the ABA’s Class Actions and Derivative Suits Committee’s Newsletter, and an editor and frequent contributor to Carlton Fields's class action blog, Classified.� He is also co-author of the Preemption chapter in the Handbook on ERISA Litigation published by Wolters Kluwer Law & Business/Aspen Publishers.��
