Mr. Wesselink is the retired Chairman and CEO of Metris Companies, a consumer financialservices company that was acquired by HSBC in December, 2005. He joined Metris as chieffinancial officer in 1998, was promoted to vice chairman in 2000, and was appointed CEO in2002.Before coming to Metris, Wesselink was with Advanta Corp., which he joined in 1993 as seniorvice president and chief financial officer. Prior to Advanta, he spent 23 years at HouseholdInternational. He was named HFC’s chief financial officer in 1982 and a senior vice president in1986.Wesselink was a board member of the American Financial Services Association (AFSA),MasterCard International (U.S. Board), Saxon Capital, Inc., CFC International, Central Collegeand the National Institute of Consumer Credit at Marquette University. He currently serves as adirector of Flex Fund Financial Services, a privately held used car floorplaner and is Chairman ofthe Board of Central College, Pella, Iowa. He is the past chairman of the Northbrook (Illinois)Chapter of the American Cancer Society and holds memberships in the Economic Club ofChicago and the Financial Executives Institute. He is a past recipient of the AFSA DistinguishedService Award.Wesselink earned a bachelor’s degree from Central College and an M.B.A. from Michigan StateUniversity.
