Neil Kurlander

Neil Kurlander is vice president of Public Sector Solutions for Asynchrony Solutions, Inc. (www.asolutions.com), an information technology consulting firm specializing in middleware architecture, system integration and custom application development, including wireless and Web applications. Kurlander's dual careers in public safety and technology spans four decades. In 1965 he joined the St .Louis Metropolitan Police Department and served in a variety of positions from officer to commander. In 1985 he was selected as the first chief of police of the Maryland Heights, Missouri Police Department, a position he held for 15 years. Under his leadership the department became one of the first in the nation to deploy in-car computers using wireless technology for dispatching and report writing, The department also was one of the first to deploy AVL technology to track the location of the patrol fleet and GIS mapping for crime analysis and operational planning.
