Otis Casey

Director of Credit Research

Otis Casey is a director of credit research at Markit and is the firm’s lead analyst and commentator on fixed income markets in North America. His publications and insight on the CDS, bonds, and leveraged loans markets are regularly cited by major financial media, including Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and industry press. Mr. Casey’s white papers on the changes in the corporate credit derivatives industry, specifically the convention and rules changes from the “CDS Big Bang” and “CDS Small Bang”, have been used as the basis for training materials by investors and major banks alike. These papers have also been used in graduate course materials at NYU and Columbia University.Mr. Casey has been involved in industry discussions from an early stage on the design of loan-only credit default swaps and was a co-author of the white paper detailing the new North American “bullet” LCDS contract.Mr. Casey joined Markit in 2002 starting as a leveraged loans analyst and has written extensively since that time on market conditions and secondary activity. In 2006, he became the head of the North American credit analyst team. Mr. Casey has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and History from Wabash College and a MBA in Finance from Indiana University.
