Scott Nestler

“Make yourself useful, doing something hard, with good people.” Kelly Corrigan's three part formula for happiness resonates with me, as it describes my outlook, in both the professional and personal aspects of my life. Tackling and solving challenging problems has been motivating for me in my professional career, throughout my community service endeavors, and in other avocations in my life. In my future endeavors, I want to contribute to something meaningful, by educating others and influencing decisions, while surrounding myself with the best family, friends, and colleagues possible.Professionally, you could say I'm a “quant who leads quants.” Beyond being technically competent with my own analysis skills, I can effectively lead and manage others. I'm a Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) and an Accredited Professional Statistician (Pstat). In my current role, I serve as the Force Strategy Division Chief for the Center for Army Analysis, where I lead, mentor and direct the efforts of 18 military and civilian analysts performing policy and risk analysis. I also serve as co-chair for the INFORMS Analytics Certification Board where I coordinate the oversight activities of board members from industry, government and academia. My educational and professional backgrounds are extensive; I have more than 20 years of experience in leadership, analytics, operations research and management science. My specialties include:• Information Visualization• Decision and Risk Analysis• Monte Carlo Simulation• Optimization - Conventional and Stochastic• Statistics and Data Analysis• Data Mining and Machine LearningAs an experienced military officer, I'm an "all in" kind of person. I don't do anything halfheartedly. If you can relate, let's connect here on LinkedIn or send me a message at scott [at] nestler.com.
