CALIFORNIA

Armanino, San Ramon, closed its offices for the day May 24 so employees could volunteer for more than 45 projects for its 10th annual Great Give, which was set to contribute 4,000 hours of community service to many different organizations. (Read the full story.)

Sensiba San Filippo, Pleasanton, announced it has become the first accounting firm in California to achieve B Corp certification, a designation for companies committed being a force for good and creating value for society beyond profit alone. To get certification, companies must undergo and pass a rigorous assessment by B Lab that evaluates their mission, employment practices, governance structure, social impact and environmental stewardship.

CONNECTICUT

PricewaterhouseCoopers is planning a major expansion project in Connecticut that will create up to 400 new jobs in the state over the next five years, as announced by Governor Dannel P. Malloy. PwC plans to spend $20 million on the expansion, which includes establishing Stamford as the headquarters for its insourced solutions for tax division.

GEORGIA

UHY Advisors’ management and technology consulting practice was named as one of the 2018 Best-of-the-Best professional services organizations by independent technology services research firm SPI Research.
