Cody Cass was elected partner at Mazars USA, San Francisco. He has eight years’ experience providing tax advisory and controversy services.

Rimma Tabakh was named Greater Bay Area local audit practice leader at Grant Thornton, San Francisco, where she will be responsible for driving audit services to clients in the firm’s San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices.

Mike Dinsdale was hired as the first chief financial officer at Gusto, San Francisco.

Kim Fusco, a principal in the audit and accounting department at Ellin & Tucker, Baltimore, received one of The Daily Record’s 2017 Leading Women Awards for her professional accomplishments, her commitment to mentoring young female accountants, and her contributions to the Maryland community. She will be honored December 4 at the Westin Annapolis.

James DiGabriele, managing member at DiGabriele, McNulty, Campanella & Co., Fairfield, received the Bright Idea Award for his article, “The Expectation of Differences Among Stakeholders in the Financial Valuation Fitness of Auditors.” The award was given by New Jersey Policy Research Organization Foundation, the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University and a panel of deans from New Jersey universities.
BKD COO and AICPA chairman Eric Hansen

NEW YORK

Eric Hansen, chief operating officer of BKD CPAs & Advisors, was named the next chair of the American Institute of CPAs. Hansen was elected to the volunteer post by the AICPA Governing Council, which also voted in Bill Reeb, chief executive of the management consulting firm Succession Institute, as vice chair. Prager Metis partner Wendy Valentino was honored with the 2017 Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Women Award, a program recognizing Long Island’s top women professionals for business acumen, mentoring and community involvement. In firm affiliate news, Russ Safirstein was named partner and managing director at Prager Metis Technology, Woodbury.

NORTH CAROLINA

Frank Graham was hired as chief financial officer at Dixon Hughes Goodman, Charlotte. Mary Frazier, DHG’s current CFO, will assume the role of chief performance officer. As CFO, Frank will oversee day-to-day internal accounting operations.

Dee Webb, a client service specialist in the New Philadelphia office at Rea & Associates, successfully completed the final section of the Qualified 401(K) Administrator exam.

The American Institute of CPAs awarded George Krull, retired partner at Grant Thornton, and Bruce Webb, an RSM veteran, with the 2017 Gold Medal Awards of Distinction, the AICPA’s highest accolade, bestowed to CPAs who have made outstanding contributions in the profession. The awards were presented at the fall meeting of the AICPA governing council in San Antonio, where the AICPA also bestowed the Sustained Contribution Award to 12 members who contributed to the AICPA and the accounting profession through their dedication to volunteer service.
