ILLINOIS

Jeff Johannesen, currently national tax leader at RSM US, was named chief strategy and innovation officer at the firm, effective June 1. He will be responsible for assisting with the development, communication, execution and sustainability of firm strategic objectives, leveraging innovation as a mechanism to enhance current and future strategy decisions.

Justin Bass was named the first chief data science officer at Crowe Horwath, Chicago, where he will lead the new data science business unit, which includes more than 20 data scientists. He joined the firm in 2015 as its first data scientist.

The New York City Chapter of Financial Executives International announced the election of five new officers: president Nicholas Mitrakis, corporate controller at WSP USA; vice president of sponsorship Jill Zunshine, former vice president, head of global real estate at Hewlett-Packard; and directors Robert Kane, chief financial officer of the Educational Records Bureau; Robert MacKay, senior vice president & controller of S&P Global; and Kevin Neylan, CFO and senior vice president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York.

Kenneth Haffey, partner and leader of the advisory services group at Skoda Minotti, Cleveland, was reappointed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich as the Audit Committee chair on the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Board of Directors, for a three-year term.

Bober Markey Fedorovich, Akron, announced seven new hires: Bryan Smith as an IT network manager, senior technical lead; Tiffany Spaller, Kevin Patrick and Jessica Martinelli as audit staff accountants; David Borisenko as a tax staff accountant; Roxanne Owens as an administrative assistant/tax processor; and Susan Russo as a receptionist.
