ILLINOIS

E.J. Nedder was named national tax leader and member of the leadership team at RSM, Chicago, succeeding Jeff Johannesen who recently accepted the position of RSM’s chief strategy & innovation officer. Nedder, who has been a partner at RSM for 15 years, will assume the role Sept. 1.

Laurie Kaplan and John Poulopoulos were appointed partners at MichaelSilver, Skokie, where Kaplan has worked since 1994 and Poulopoulos since 2002.

Marna Ricker was appointed Americas vice chair of tax services at EY, New York, succeeding Kate Barton, who was named EY global vice chair of tax. EY also announced that Paul Stroud was named EY Americas deputy vice chair of tax services, replacing Jeff Banta, who took on the role of EY global law co-leader; and Craig Hillier was appointed EY Americas ITS leader, replacing Jeff Michalak, who becomes the EY global ITS leader.

Whitney Ferguson was promoted to new markets tax credit (NMTC) program manager for the Innovation Fund, and Michael Lee was hired to fill Ferguson’s previous role as NMTC compliance and asset manager, at Tax Advantage Group, Greenville.

TEXAS

Weaver, Houston, announced group leadership changes: Brian Reed, partner-in-charge of transaction advisory services and private equity services to work with both Kevin Sanford, leader of the national financial services industry group, and Melvin Hunt, partner-in-charge and leader of the commercial services industry group. Sanford in the national financial services industry group are Matt Anderson, partner-in-charge, alternative investments; and James Mihills, partner-in-charge, financial institutions services. Working with Hunt and focusing on specific industries are: Rob Myatt, now leading energy services; Brad Jay, who has led manufacturing and distribution services, now also responsible for technology services; Mark Lund, who will continue to lead construction services; and Colby Horn, promoted to director of real estate and hospitality services. Private client services is co-led by Justin Reeves, partner-in-charge, North Texas, and Elizabeth Bunk, partner-in-charge, South Texas.

Abdon Rangel was hired as managing director in the Houston office of Andersen Tax.

Jodi Ann Ray, president and CEO of the Texas Society of CPAs, Dallas, was elected to the Texas Society of Association Executives board of directors, for a three-year term running through 2021.
