LOUISIANA

Dan Gardiner, current director at Postlethwaite & Netterville, Baton Rouge, has been selected as the incoming chief executive officer and managing director, assuming the role in May 2018 and succeeding current CEO Bill Balhoff, who will remain in a leadership position with the firm. Matthew Killeen was hired as senior tax accountant; Sharon Golen was hired as controller in residence in the managed accounting solutions practice; Andrew Hammond was hired as director of wealth management at AAFCPAs Wealth Management; Robert Constantino was promoted to manager; Christopher Fennell, Colleen Cavalier, James Carlise and Ally Graham were promoted to senior accountant; and Brendon Robidoux, Brendan Carritte, Sarah Massiwer and Demi Votto were promoted to semi-senior accountant.

MICHIGAN

John Pridnia was named firm-wide director of tax at Rehmann, Troy, and Chris Morse was appointed regional managing principal of the greater Michigan region at Rehmann, an area which covers Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Traverse City and more.

Kirk Leoni, principal at Nathan Wechsley & Co., Concord, was elected to a second term as chair of Canterbury Shaker Village, a nonprofit museum dedicated to upholding the 200-year legacy of the Canterbury Shakers.

Carol-Ann Boothe was named chair of the chapter network of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, beginning a two-year term.

Sarah Holzberg, marketing associate at Prager Metis CPAs, Woodbury, was presented with the 2017 Long Island Business News’ Volunteer of the Year Award. The When Work Works Award is part of the Society for Human Resource Management’s When Work Works project, a national initiative to help employers become more successful.

Stephanie Pervez was appointed to lead the private client services practice for CohnReznick, New York.

OHIO

Mike Taylor, previously principal and shareholder at Rea & Associates, New Philadelphia, will be retiring from public accounting after 45 years at the firm. In the future, he will serve as CEO for long-time Rea client Graham Dunn in Millersburg.

Cheryl McNulty was named associate in the small business services group and Sally was appointed CRM specialist in the strategic marketing group, of Skoda Minotti, Cleveland.

Laura Allio was hired as senior analyst of business valuation/litigation services and Alexa Mayer was hired to join Bober Markey Fedorovich, Akron.

OREGON

Geffen Mesher announced the passing of long-time senior tax manager Kelly Coburn, who died unexpectedly on May 3, 2017. Coburn, who was 62, spent nearly 39 years with the firm in Portland. He was a member of the AICPA and the Oregon Society of CPAs, and earned his B.A. in accounting from Oklahoma Christian College in 1977, becoming a CPA in Oregon in 1980. His focus was in the real estate industry, working with clients on tax and business planning, partnership taxation, real estate transactions and employee benefit plans. Coburn was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the early 200s and begun reducing his time in the office in 2006, working entirely from home beginning in 2011. “MS robbed Kelly of his ability to move, but his mind remained sharp as a tack and he continued to respond to technical questions quickly, as if he was still right down the hall,” said Michael Rompa, managing shareholder at Geffen Mesher, in a statement. Coburn is survived by his wife and three daughters.

Michael DePompei was appointed partner in the tax practice of Haynes and Boone, Dallas. DePompei previously was a director in the Washington National Tax Practice Group of Deloitte.
