People on the move: WNDE appoints new MP

Belfint, Lyons & Shuman votes in director and shareholder; Schenck names next president; and other recent hires, promotions and personnel news from firms across the country.

CALIFORNIA

Paul Treinen was named the new managing partner at White Nelson Diehl Evans, Irvine, assuming the role from Dave Doran, who retired on Dec. 31, 2017, after 42 years with the firm. Treinen, a tax and advisory services partner and member of the executive committee, joined WNDE in 1990 and became a partner in 2001.

SingerLewak added three partners: Nanaz Benyamini in the tax practice and Bryan Landau in the SL Biggs division, both in Westwood; and Chenying Fan in the tax practice in the Silicon Valley office.

Thomas Kenaya, audit manager at Haskell & White, San Diego, has joined the foundation board at California State University, San Marcos.

DELAWARE

Kathy Dean-Bradley was named director and shareholder at Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, Wilmington, after a vote by the directors of the firm.

FLORIDA

Paul Davison, assurance partner, has joined the Jacksonville office of BDO USA, relocating from the firm’s Columbus, Ohio, office.

GEORGIA

C.J. Crawford was hired as an audit managing director in the Atlanta office of Grant Thornton.

James Pickett was hired as director of the new tax controversy practice at Bennett Thrasher, Atlanta, marking the third addition of a new service line at the firm in the past nine months.

ILLINOIS

Vince Curttright was hired as an audit partner to lead the new Chicago office at Cohen & Co.

INDIANA

Bethany Neese, Louis Sacks and Chad Whitman were hired as staff accountants at BGBC Partners, Indianapolis.

Edward McGuire, on the assurance and entrepreneurial team, and Kathy Rokita, on the health care team, were promoted to principals at Somerset CPAs and Advisors, Indianapolis.

MARYLAND

DeLeon & Stang CPAs, Gaithersburg, promoted four professionals: Diana Contreras to human resources manager; Steven Kurinsky to manager; and Sweta Shah and John Sheehan to supervisors.

Lindsay Parks and Carl Arnold were hired as associates and Kendra McGuire was hired as a tax production specialist, at Rodman CPAs, Waltham.

Ruth Baker was hired to provide accounting, tax and consulting services and Connor Hichens was hired to provide accounting and auditing services at QRGA, Norwood.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Wayne Geher, principal at Nathan Wechsler & Co., Concord, was elected board president of the New Hampshire chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

NEW YORK

Mark Graham was hired as a senior director in the financial industry advisory services practice at Alvarez & Marsal, to be based in both New York and Philadelphia.

Bill Yahara was hired as tax director and John Passantino was hired as a senior audit manager, at Cohen & Co., New York.

PENNSYLVANIA

Smith Elliott Kearns & Co., York, promoted five promotions: to manager, Erin Clark and Angela Quigley; to supervisor, Evan Wabrick, Charli Heilmann and David Myers; and to support accountant supervisor, Laura Garner.

Josh Lefcowitz was hired as a partner to lead the valuation practice at Cohen & Co., Pittsburgh.

TENNESSEE

Aaron O’Dell was hired as a manager in the audit practice at Kruggel Lawton CPAs, Knoxville.

TEXAS

Chris Hatten and Ryan Istre were named shareholders, in the audit services group, and Nikki Homratsamy was promoted to tax director, at PKF Texas, Houston.

UNITED KINGDOM

Colin Farmer, partner at Alliotts, was appointed chairman of the worldwide board of international association Alliott Group, London. Alliotts is one of Alliott Group’s co-founding firms. With Farmer’s promotion, current Asia Pacific chairman Jamie Towers, partner at Hanrick Curran, will be promoted to deputy worldwide chairman.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced six new and eight reappointed members to its Standing Advisory Group, bringing total SAG membership to 34. WISCONSIN

Daniel Young has been named president at Schenck, Green Bay, succeeding Greg Barber, who he will work with to transition in the coming months. Young had been the managing shareholder at Schenck’s Green Bay office since 2008. He served four three-year terms on the firm’s board of directors and in 2015 was named board vice chair.

Jim Rosing was hired as a tax manager in the Milwaukee office of Cohen & Co.
