The Accounting MOVE Project, founded by Moss Adams, CohnReznick, and other participating firms, has opened its 2018 Survey, seeking input from firms of all sizes to gauge female leadership in public accounting.

The 2017 Accounting MOVE Project concluded that women make up 24 % of partners and principals at CPA firms, up from 17% in the first survey conducted in 2010.

“Evolving expectations are redefining the success markers for firms that are ‘in it to win it’ for the long term," stated Joanne Cleaver, president of Wilson-Taylor Associates, which manages the Accounting MOVE Project. "What those firms are learning from their journeys to advance women informs overall culture change, with big implications for the next generation of leaders.”

In addition to publishing this year's survey results, the MOVE Project will also compile a list of the top public accounting firms for female leadership in 2018.

“This year’s MOVE theme is a forum to explore how an initial focus on development and advancement of women influences an organization’s journey towards inclusion,” said Jennifer Wyne, executive director of human resources for Moss Adams, per a statement. “An organization with diverse perspectives delivers better solutions to its clients.”

Interested firms must complete the survey by February 16, 2018. A summary of the 2018 Accounting MOVE Project will be released in the May 2018 issue of Public Accounting Report, with a full digital report available on Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance's (AFWA) web site.

“Through CohnReznick’s women’s initiatives, we’ve learned a lot about why women make the career decisions they do, and that’s shaping our approach to diversity and inclusion,” stated Risa Lavine, principal and chief of staff at CohnReznick. “The MOVE Project is one way we, and the profession, can see how our understanding translates to real-world results, like retention and promotion.”
