The Accountants Confidence Index got back into sync with an upward tick in July, after the short- and mid-term readings split in June.
The ACI, published by Accounting Today in partnership with ADP, is a monthly economic indicator that leverages the insights of accountants into the strength and prospects of businesses in the U.S. The 3-Month ACI came in at 51.13, up a little from 50.93 last month, while the 6-Month ACI hit 53.95, up from 53.44. The 50 mark separates predictions of growth from predictions of decline.
The index components were a little more mixed, however. The forecasts for large businesses jumped a point, while those for the overall economy dropped almost as much -- and respondents' forecasts for their own firms were split.
